Right well it's been long enough since my last post. I'm looking forward to 2010 and really want to push a focus into the fashion beauty and hair photography. I hope to be more active on here blogging and make some of my own personal visions come to life. Oh have a look at the new site www.saltstudios.net.au/simon
So to kick it off I thought I would post the 2nd and 3rd images from the pool series I helped create for a make up artist. We had a blast creating these images and for me it was a huge learning experience.
This shot to the right was the "Glamour" look. Time of day was the key to these photos and the pool we were using was in direct sunlight for the most of the day. This image was created late in the day with the sun at the models back. An SB-800 firing into a silver brolly camera right a second SB-800 through a translucent brolly camera left at about half the power of the main, for fill. And a bare bulb SB-26 hitting the back of her head and shoulder for a bit of separation. That was it for the lighting. Again Suzy the model was outstanding, such a professional. Beautiful make up and of course Chris did a great job with the hair.
We didn't have much dry ice and with a small breeze it was disappearing very quickly so we only managed to get about 15 frames. Because of all the planning put into these images we knew that if we could get one frame with good looking fog we would have it. And here it is, we got the shot. The series has a theme of a goddess being born of water. And a huge thanks needs to go out to a few people for making this happen. Firstly Aliesha the makeup artist behind all of this. Chris the most amazing hair stylist I know. Katie who made these lengths of material look so incredible just hanging off our insane beautiful hard working professional model Suzy, thank you so much for being amazing. My wife Theresa, thanks for being you and being one step ahead of me with my setups. Tim thanks for the pool, BBQ's and being an extra hand when ever some one needed it. Dave for making the fog happen. And every one else that helped.
